Press Release: Bowe discusses SRO challenges and benefits with BACO Membership

Fidelity Bank CEO and Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants (“BICA”) president Gowon Bowe was the keynote speaker at BACO’s membership update held on May 18, 2022. BACO's path to self-regulation dominated the discussion.

“The SRO Bill is currently being reviewed by the Group of Financial Services Regulators and it is anticipated that BACO will receive a collective response from this body on behalf of all regulators," said Dorsett. Mrs. Dorsett further added, “Based on the existing tiers of membership and corresponding criteria, and considering the feedback from regulators and industry stakeholders, we hope to endeavour to define the requirements for licensing of CO and MLROs.”
